Hearts and Flowers

What do you think of these little heart brooches? They are about 3cm across and I made them during my mammoth button making episode a few weeks ago.
I've never done jewellery before, but for fairly chunky things like these, I think ceramic works quite well.

And if you should spot anyone out and about wearing one of these, it is probably me. Well - they say it pays to advertise!

You might remember the large patchwork platter I was making a while ago too. This is how it came out. I'm not sure if the pale colours are really to my own personal taste, but I hope someone out there will like it as it is off to a gallery next week.

Technically, I am pleased with it and may make another in a different colour scheme.

By the way, you may like to know that last week a certain department store which stocks my work was asking about items for the up-coming Chr****** Season.
That's the first mention of the unmentionable 'C' word this year - in JULY!!
Only how many Shopping Days til ...... ?

  1. I'm just firing samples of new work for the *mas market in Aberystwyth Arts Centre....submissions have to be in by Thursday!!

  2. I love the brooches.I think the colours of the platter work well.My kind of colours.

  3. I think the brooches are great and should sell well as I think people are really into them at the moment. Well hope so anyway as I've made loads for the Wayland Show next week.

  4. I, for one, love the colours of the platter. Unfortunately you are not the first to mention the C word.

  5. The platter is awesome!!!! How is this possible that you don't like the colors??? Colors are awesome and design is awesome and the workmanship too. Great piece, really :)

And yes, the hearts are ok, but I preferred your buttons :)

  6. I love the ceramic hearts, my OH and I used to make ceramic brooches and pendants and they sold well :) Just a thought, could you put the brooch pins closer to the top, or straight down? we found they hung better from clothing like that.... I love the platter, I do like vibrant colours though...

I found your blog via Krissie's at Winterwood. It was nice to find another potter, even though I only play with clay, and it is not a paying hobby for me, I do love my clay play. I like your buttons and platter. Very pretty.

  11. I love the deatil on your platter, a beautiful combination. EEk, how many days ;-)
